TAASCON: Triangle-Area Asian Student Conference

So what is TAASCON?

TAASCON was founded to establish substantive and sustainable engagement with Asian American issues at the college level in the state of North Carolina, with an emphasis on outreaching to universities in the Southeastern United States. TAASCON aims to connect existing clusters of relevant cultural group programming, faculty knowledge, and individual conversations. These will benefit not only Asian and Asian American students but also entire undergraduate student populations across the state.

The face of Asian America is changing. There is ample room and urgent need for this generation to begin new discourses and to build communities to explore our unique transnational identity. While cultural groups in the Triangle-Area have demonstrated remarkable activism through cultural and social programming, exposure to universities and eventually the larger Asian American community in the Southeast. TAASCON will offer a unique combination of student involvement, academic engagement, and collaborative resources to establish this community.

This year our theme is "Recognize the Revolution." We challenge you to take the first steps towards redefining your reality as an Asian American. At TAASCON, we'll put all the issues on the table as we try to redefine what being Asian American in the 21st Century means to us and how we get involved in the Movement.
